Dec 22, 1937 · If one compares December, 1929, with December, 1937, the cost of living index to-day is 4 per cent. lower, the index of food is 8 per cent. lower, and wages are 3½ per cent. higher. A simple calculation will show that on that basis, real wages to-day are 8 per cent. higher than they were in December, 1929.
