    The area south of 52nd street, like much of Indianapolis, can vary wildly almost on a block-by-block basis. But once you get north of 52nd Street you're in a very safe area. I ended up buying just north of Broad Ripple Ave on Evanston--that area is even quieter and safer but the houses in general aren't as nice as the ones south of 62nd.
