    I am--in full disclosure--living in Arcata, which I'm told is one of the more expensive parts of Humboldt. But for a similar living arrangement, I'm paying about the same in rent as I did in Berkeley. Rent aside, I would say food is actually more expensive up here than in the Bay Area.
