    I did a working holiday trip to canada 8 years ago and met a lot of aussies who were doing the same thing. Unless things have changed- Needed a 1 year holiday working visa which you can apply for in aus, proof of a certain amount of cash in your bank account (cant remember how much) and a return plane ticket. Need to apply for canadian social security number as well.
